Our conceptual model

The schematic diagram below describes our working modality. We will focus on building capacity for patient-oriented mental health services in Nepal via capacity building of key human resources (e.g. medical officers, nurses, non-specialist and community health workers).

Project phases

Our activities will be conducted in three phases. First, we will start with team-building activities in Nepal and the USA, as this is the critical first step in any organisation. After the first step is completed, we will conduct a series of awareness activities (e.g. webinars) to increase mental health awareness in Nepal. This is particularly important given the stress created by the pandemic among the general public and among health care workers. Finally, in our third phase, we will focus on building the local health system capacity to provide tertiary mental health services while also focusing on the expansion of specialty outpatient services as well as skills and knowledge transfers among our members in Nepal and the USA.
